Pamper yourself with home style Saurashtrian recipes. I have borrowed these recipes from my Mom, family members and fellow Saurashtrians. Each and every recipe here are dear to me as I grew up eating them. I love my Mom’s food and and I thrive to reproduce the same in my kitchen. I hope I have done justice to her cooking. Love you Mom and I miss you so much.
Can you please post the receipe for Tamarind Rice (ambat bhath)??
Sure Madumathi. Please give me some time as we are just settling down in our new home.
it’s very simple. Take a big lemon size tamarind and soak in water and take tamarind water out of that. take around 10 to 12 red chillies. Other things needed for frying: fenugreek powder (must), asafoetida, turmeric powder, gram dhal, mustard seed, urad dhall, curry leaves.
Pour around 4 spoons of oil (good amount of oil will taste nice). put mustard seeds, urad dhal, gram dhall, red chillies, asafoetida, turmeric powder, fenugreek powder, curry leaves and at last add tamarind water and salt to taste. Let it boil until it becomes a thick gravy. This gravy can be mixed with rice (with salt for the rice quantity). This is called ‘ambat bhath’.
