Thanks Praniskitchen, yep 550 F or the maximum temperature in your oven. If it is < 550, cooking time might differ.
Perfect they look….being made in oven I am sure they are all the more gud with less oil….I have made grilled chicken and it came out so tasty without oil…Urs make me crave for some chicken lollis now

This is our favorite, I used to try this from vahrehvah before…Lovely pics, RV..I will definitely try this but my oven’s maximum setting is 500F so I guess I would have to bake it for at least 20 mts or so..
Please go ahead and use our fish podimas picture, RV..Its our pleasure to be featured in your column
I do the madhur jaffery tandoori too:-) she is the best, isn’t she? I do mine skinless tho’. Yours looks like the one done and served in an upscale restaurant. beautifully photographed too!
Thanks Soma
Yeah, Madhur Jaffery rocks. Her recipes are soulful.
Whaaaat! This look unbelievably amazing. Just like the restaurant tandoori chicken. You make it look so easy as well. I love what you’ve done. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great recipe…my husband thought it was awesome
What a great recipe! It looks fantastic!
I am making this tonight…. I will let you know how it goes, I am sure AMAZING!!!!
Thanks, please let me know how it turns out. Bon Appetit!
RV,
I tried this tandoori chicken last week. I followed Vah chef’s recipe and your method. It turned out real fantastic and much more tastier than the restaurant version. We really loved it with the spicy green chutney. I used to bake it at 400 F before. I guess baking at 500 F or the highest possible temp. really makes a difference. I am planning to prepare it again soon. Will follow your recipe also next time..Thanks a lot for sharing this recipe and the elaborate method, RV..
Thanks Yummy Team. Next time I am gonna come over to your home and have it with a grand Kerala meal:)
Hey Radhika…
The tandoori looks yummy.. I will try your recipe soon…
Hey Radhika,
Tandoori looks yummy… let me try your recipe..
Thanks Supraja
i want to prepare this tonight to cook tomorrow. however, i wonder what to serve it with to make a nice, round meal? my friend is making naan and i want to make 1 or 2 other dishes.
thanks!
Thanks Leah, you can serve chicken and Naan with simple yogurt condiment like this http://chefinyou.com/2010/07/mint-raita-recipe/ or you can make a fruity yogurt condiment like this http://www.foodfor7stagesoflife.com/2009/10/mixed-fruit-raitha.html or you can make a spicy curry like Chicken Tikka Masala or a curry of your choice.
thank you! i decided to make the raita you suggested and the red lentil recipe from madhur jaffrey’s book. it seems delicate enough to go with anything.
so excited! having indian food cravings in a major way!
Hi Radhika
I tried this tandoori chicken yesterday and it turned out superb that me and better half loved it to the fullest. Thanx a bunch for the great step by step details. We have already decided that this is going to be our regular tandoori chicken recipe from now on..I must say once more…It tasted awesome and is definitely the ultimate recipe for a tandoori chicken. have even referred to family and friends!!!
Love

Thanks Suji. You really made our day. We are so glad that you enjoyed it.
Beautiful! I don’t add onions in my marinade. Is it 550 F or C?
Thanks PreeOccupied. It is 550 F
wow! I usually marinate the chicken in a yogurt marinade, find that it gives both flavor and tender flesh (and moist) but I appreciate the extra tips from you; slitting the skin is a good one, as is keeping the skin on while baking. Perfect recipe!
I just posted tandoori chicken recipe and found this here. This looks great Radhika, besides I never add onion to the marinate, I bet its good ! Madhur, ofcourse she rocks
Thanks Radhika.. for your great recipe..
I tried it couple of times.. and it really came out very tasty… we enjoyed it..
Its a lousy weekday afternoon and I am sitting here fighting my post-vacation jetlag with a cup of hot tea…which incidentally is also my best thing to make me forget the snow and freezing temps outside. I decide to go blog-hopping (and of course your blog drew me towards it as always!). And I see these this superb picture of Tandoori Chicken sitting on the right hand panel. I must say this has to be the most inviting pic on your blog! I’m going to give this one a shot as soon as this darned jet-lag gives way to normalcy. Oh and yes, we should try and catch up sometime if possible. Hope all is well with you. TC n haffun!
I love chicken tandoori I will try it on the easter
